Stock Controller

Our client is part of the Logistics Division of a major Middle East Group and a provider of transport and logistics solutions and services within the Arabian Gulf and throughout The Middle East.

They are preparing a tender submission for a new contract with one of their existing clients who is a major oil company.

Expressions of interest are now required from qualified candidates for the position of Stock Controller to be based in the interior of Oman. The role will be offered on a 2-year renewable contract and can be accompanied status.

The contract is to cover warehouse and storage yard operations at a site in the interior (forklifts, cranes, trucks).

Reporting into the Warehouse Manager, you will lead a small team responsible for all aspects of inventory management at the warehouse.

The product to be stored and looked after will be oil tubulars, chemicals and a wide range of engineering spares.

You will ensure the stock is in the right place at the right time to satisfy customer orders.

You will complete regular stock takes/perpetual inventory.

You will monitor discrepancies and investigate identified stock problems.

You will fully investigate fully all stock issues.

You will carry out data input and maintenance of relevant operating systems.

You will assist with the preparation of reports, files and other documentation

You will liaise with customers, the end client and other internal Company departments as required.

You will identify opportunities for greater efficiency within key business processes and make recommendations accordingly.

You will work to achieving various KPI's.

You will abide by all Health & Safety and Legal requirements and will work within all

Company policies and procedures.

You will promote good customer service.

The role will probably be on a rotation of 60 days' work and 30 days' rest (including travel) or similar but may vary with seniority. Rest days can be spent in Oman or back in home location.

The contract would be initially for two years (as per Omani work visas) but they are also looking for staff who may wish to base themselves in Oman for career purposes.

Knowledge and Skills:

To meet this exceptional challenge, you will be an ambitious Stock Controller / Inventory Manager, ideally with experience in 3rd party logistics but our client is open minded as to your background.

Experience of the oil and gas sector is not necessary.

Relevant military, engineering or oil field experience would be useful.

You will have good attention to detail and able to pick up new processes quickly.

You should have the ability to prioritise in a busy environment.

Our client is very supportive towards the ex-military community and the company employs a number of ex - military UK personnel.

With outstanding leadership ability and a strong customer focus, you will have the confidence to win credibility and make an effective contribution.

Your work experience should ideally be supported by a qualification in a logistics or operational doctrine.

You should have a strong health and safety background.

You should possess excellent inter-personal and communication skills in English and ideally one other language and be able to adapt to rapid changes in a positive manner, work to tight deadlines and pay attention to the detail.

Superb communication skills and instant credibility are essential as you will be inter-facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.

You will be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.

Finally, you should possess a Drivers Licence and be PC / IT literate. An international driving licence would be very useful.

Basic salary will be in a range of around 30-40k tax free. The role will be offered on a 2-year renewable contract and can be accompanied status.
